Kwara Roads: Ajibola Misrepresented Obas - Ahmed
Reacting to a statement by Ajibola's media team which claimed traditional rulers in Kwara South have complained about the state of roads in the area, Governor Ahmed described the report as a fabrication as the PDP candidate has shown a tendency to twist people's words for propaganda.
Governor Ahmed urged the public to treat this latest alleged complaint by the Royal Father's with serious suspicion as previous statements attributed to the monarchs by the PDP were denied as a fabrication.
He said the road allegedly referred to by Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II was Ajase Ipo-Erinle Ile Road which the PDP-controlled Federal government has failed to repair in the last six years.
Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr Muyideen Akorede, Governor Ahmed urged the PDP candidate to stop disparaging the Royal Fathers who have applauded the state government's phased road program even as they have urged Alh. Ahmed to extend the project to other parts of their domains.
Governor Ahmed said the state government's published road development strategy shows how many roads it intends to construct annually and at what cost. He added that the Federal Government's reduction of allocation to the state has seriously hampered planned and ongoing road projects across the state.
" It is on record that the Kwara State Government has prioritised road construction in the last four years, constructing and rehabilitating over 800km of urban and rural roads while other roads like Share-Oke Ode, Anilelerin Offa and so on are ongoing.
"We challenge the PDP candidate to tell us what he has done about major federal roads in Kwara South such as Ajase Ipo-Erinle and Omu-Aran Egbe Road in his 12 years at the Senate. On its part, the Ahmed administration has intervened on several FG government roads such as the on-going Kishi Kaiama Road at the cost of N8b.
In fact, the Federal Ministry of Works was the first Ministry Governor Ahmed visited on assuming office in a bid to get the Federal Government to fix it's dilapidated roads in the state which were causing the people serious hardship. Four years later, we are still waiting on the Federal Government to repair these roads".
