Governor Ahmed restates commitment to pensioners, civil servants' welfare
Speaking during a campaign rally in Bode Saadu, Governor Ahmed said his administration has demonstrated this resolve through prompt payment of salaries, pensions and other entitlements including annual increments while other states with higher allocations struggle to meet their obligations. He said that civil servants and pensioners are key stakeholders whose welfare will remain top priority to the state government.
Governor Ahmed therefore urged the public to disregard false rumours being peddled by the opposition that government intends to retrench civil servants due to the drop in allocation from the Federal Government.
On the contrary, he said, government will identify alternative sources of revenue so that it can meet its obligations unfailingly.
Alhaji Ahmed said having engaged 10,200 youths since inception he has no intention of laying off workers or taking any other action capable of causing hardship in the state. Continuing, government has made arrangements to engage an additional 5000 youths in the state in line with its commitment to human capital development.?
He said that despite the opposition's ploy to stop his administration from securing additional funding for its programmes and projects, government will not relent in its efforts to source alternative funds to meet the people's aspirations including those relating to the welfare of civil servants and pensioners.
