APC cautions opposition against heating polity in Kwara
Following political crisis and protest trailing the botched Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries in Kwara State, aggrieved governorship aspirants have been urged to toe the line of peace towards sustaining existing culture of political harmony in the state.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday, former chairman of Alliance Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Kwara State and now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Kayode Olawepo, advised politicians not to hide under influence of higher authority in the country to achieve their political ambition.
It will be recalled that allegations of use of thugs and political hoodlums by PDP governorship aspirants, leading to free-for-all, had characterised the inconclusive governorship primaries at the voting centre in Ilorin, on Monday.
Chief Olawepo, who said the cause of political tension in the opposition PDP was the unbridled ambition of each individual aspirant, called for peaceful resolution of the matter.
"How will people team up to say they want to torpedo a single man without a manifesto from anyone of them on their programmes for the people of Kwara State. I hope they won't use their unguarded ambition to destroy peace and harmony which Kwara State is noted for. We plead with them to allow Kwara State to be at peace," he said.
The APC chieftain, who said that no agency of Federal Government would win elections for any aspirant, added that the federal might would not win election for any party.
