Deeper Life condemns homosexuality as Kumuyi visits Kwara

Date: 2014-11-21

AHEAD of its General Superintendent, Pastor Williams Kumuyi's visit to Kwara State on November 25, the Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC) Thursday said homosexuality is demonic.

Besides, the church said it has not forbidden its members from taking active part in politics. It however, maintained that such members must be divinely led into such an endeavour.

DLBC Pastor-in-Charge of Kwara, David Adebiyi said yesterday at a press conference in Ilorin to announce Kumuyi's visit that it is the duty of the church to be in the forefront of those sharply criticizing heretic teachings about the Bible.

He said the Ilorin crusade, entitled; 'Supernatural Encounter with the God of Power, will hold daily from 5pm at Eyenkorin camp ground of the church, adding that the last two days of the programme starting from 6:30a.m till 1:00p.m will be used for 'Ministers Conference.'

Adebiyi said, "We are in the forefront of those fighting what they call homosexuality, whether here in Nigeria or abroad. It is not only when we go to the press that we are condemning it. The pre occupation of the church is to fight all the social vices. The marriage between members of similar sex is anti-Bible, satanic and anti-God. DLBC can never support homosexualism we are going against it."

Speaking on politics and the members of the church, the pastor noted, "You are what you are because you have a calling to that effect. We are not opposed to any of our members aspiring to occupy any of the elective offices. But such persons must have been spiritually called to do so. They must have realised the need to combine that with spiritual growth."

Adebiyi canvassed more prayers for the leadership of Nigeria, noting that the present problem of insurgence in some parts of Nigeria remained "a spiritual problem," just as he disclosed that next year general polls in Nigeria would be violence free and would not lead to the disintegration of the country.

According to him, "political tension is everywhere but as a church, we are a spiritual body. Our role as a church is to lift up the hands of our leaders spiritually. Where there is a problem, we pray, we do this without any form of discrimination. The mind of God is that the nation Nigeria will not break and that the 2015 general elections will be successful."

Adebiyi said the need for the Ilorin crusade was divinely mooted by God noting that it would be used as an avenue for deliverance from yoke of sicknesses, diseases and age long problems that have defied physical solutions.

According to him, "we can confidently say that the myriads of problems we face at the personal, family, national and global levels are either directly or indirectly spiritual in origin. Such problems are not effectively solved with natural means. We need supernatural intervention to resolve them.

"This is not about religion. This is not about denominational bias, this is not about sectarian dogmas, neither is it about self-praise or hero worship. This is about God intervening where men are powerless, it's God intercepting the weapons of the evil one in men's lives."
