Governor Ahmed Pardons Civil Servants
The State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who approved the pardon, said it was in the spirit of reconciliation of the party chieftains and to showcase his administration’s magnanimity to Civil Servants in the State.
This pardon by the State Government covers Civil Servants who were either suspended or redeployed from their former duty posts as a result of their involvement in partisan politics.
Following the pardon, Governor Ahmed has therefore directed the State Head of Service (HOS), to immediately set machinery in motion for the unconditional re-instatement of all rank and files of suspended Civil Servants across the Service.
The HOS was equally mandated to reverse the deployment of all Civil Servants earlier posted out of their former duty posts back to their stations and the re-instatement of lost ranks and entitlements as appropriate. For the avoidance of doubt, this clemency affects only those suspended, down-graded or redeployed from December, 1st, 2010 as a result of their participation in partisan politics.
He also directed the office of the Head of Service to liaise with the office of the Secretary to the State Government for comprehensive list of all Civil Servants affected by the pardon.
The governor, however, enjoined all Civil Servants affected by the pardon to reciprocate government gesture by showing remorse, absolute loyalty, discipline, dedication and regard to constituted authority.
It would be recalled that on the approach of the last general elections, civil servants who in flagrant violation of the Civil Service Rule 04401 got involved neck deep in partisan politics were either suspended indefinitely, downgraded or redeployed.
