Court Remands 4 For Sexual Abuse Of Minors

An Ilorin  Magistrates' Court on Wednesday  remanded four men for allegedly abusing   minors  sexually.

The accused - Abolarin John, Balogun Samuel, Abdullahi Sulaiman and Moses Lawal- were arraigned for  unlawful sexual intercourse with a child which contravened Section 31 (2) of  Kwara Child Rights Law.

The charge sheet stated that the accused were  in the habit of having carnal knowledge of four sisters, all  aged 14,  when  hawking.

It stated  that on April 29, the accused  persons also had  sexual intercourse with their victims, adding that  one of the minors later  ran home to report the incident to  their parents.

The victims' parents, it added, arrested the accused and handed them over to the Area Commander at Omu-Aran from  where the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The court, however, did not take the plea of the accused.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Mathew Ologbonsaye, told the court that  investigation into the matter was not completed, adding that the alleged offence was not bailable .

He urged the court to remand the accused in prison pending the completion of  investigation.

Magistrate Silifat Sambo, in her ruling, agreed with the submission of the prosecutor and directed that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison in Oke-kura, Ilorin.

She adjourned the case to May 24 for further mention.
