The Kwara House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the appointment of all the 16 Commissioner nominees as requested by Gov.  Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The confirmation was announced by the Speaker, Mr. Rasaq Atunwa after a three-day screening.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the governor had requested the confirmation   in a message to the House on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

The 16 nominees confirmed by the House during Thursday plenary are   Mr Bode Ogunleye from Ekiti Local Government; Malam Saheed Popoola, Offa; Mr Tunji Morounfoye, Oyun; Mr Amos Aboyeji, Isin and Alhaji Suleiman Atolagbe, Ilorin South.

Others are Hajia Ramat Abaya, Asa; Alhaji Saka Onimago, Ilorin West; Mr Anthony Towoju, Oke-Ero; Dr Abubakar Kannike, Ilorin Eas, Alhaji Abubakar Mora, Kaima and Mr Bode Olayemi, Ifelodun.

The rest are Alhaji Abdullahi Lade, Patigi; Alhaji Wahab Opaleke, Asa; Alhaji Issa Kayode, Moro; Mr Bode Ogunleye, Ekiti; Mr Amos Aboyeji, Isin and Alhaji Idris Garuba Baruten.

The speaker said the confirmation was done in accordance with section 192 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and in accordance with the rules of the House.

Atunwa said that the nominees had been screened and confirmed by way of resolution of the House as fit and appropriate to be appointed as Commissioners in the state Executive Council.

He directed the clerk of the House to write to the governor and convey the decision of the House.

Also, during Thursday's plenary, a bill for a law to amend the Environmental Sanitation Law of the State and for related matters went through its first reading.

The motion for the reading of the bill for the first time was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Alhaji AbdulKarem AbdulGaniyu and seconded by Alhaji Hassan Oyeleke, both of APC.  (NAN)
