Ghost workers responsible for delay in Sure-P workers salaries in Kwara, says Chairman

Date: 2014-01-18

The Chairman of the Subsidy Re-investment Programme (Sure-P) in Kwara State, Chief Moses Ibiyemi, has attributed the non-payment of three months salary arrears in the state to the incidence of ghost workers on its payroll.

Ibiyemi, who made this clarification while speaking with newsmen, said the organisation is currently embarking on computerisation of its screening exercise in order to ascertain the genuine workers in the state.

He said that the computerised screening exercise had been completed in Kwara Central and Kwara South Senatorial districts. He added that the screening for in the Kwara North will follow at Gbugbu in the Edu Local Government Area of the state.

The Chairman gave an assurance that the three month arrears would be paid before the end of January.

Ibiyemi, who did not disclosed the number of ghost workers detected so far, expressed optimism that the exercise will meet the intended purpose.

He appealed to Sure-P workers in the state to exercise patience, assuring that the three months owed will be paid.
