'G-7 governors will determine who governs Nigeria in 2015'

Date: 2013-11-12

A member of the House Representatives representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Hon Moshood Mustapha yesterday observed that the G-7 Governors would be the determinant factor of who rules the country in 2015.

Mustapha, who spoke with newsmen in Ilorin, said wherever the G-7 governors decide to go, will determine what happens in 2015.

The federal lawmaker described comments credited to the former Sports Minister, Hon Bio Ibrahim on the romance between the G-7 governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as leadership style of the PDP Leader in Kwara State, Dr Bukola Saraki as unfortunate.

Saying that the former minister had benefited immensely from Saraki's political dynasty, Mustapha concluded that "Bio's comments were borne out of desperation and insatiable lust  for power."

His words "This is a very serious matter, that is why you see the president working day and night to see how we can reconcile. But for Hon Bio to say PDP will not miss G-7, it shows that he does not understand politics".

"That is why it is important for PDP not to allow them to go because no member of PDP would want seven serving governors to leave the party".

Mustapha who urged  President Jonathan to be wary of the likes of Hon Bio Ibrahim, added that, "If the president and other stakeholders within the PDP could take their time finding ways of fostering reconciliation between the mainstream PDP and the PDP being promoted by the G-7 governors, it shows how important and indispensable the governors are."

Reacting to reinstatement of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the national secretary of the PDP by the Appeal Court, Mustapha urged  President Goodluck Jonathan and other stakeholders to use the opportunity of the reinstatement to reconcile with the G-7 governors.

Mustapha, who called for the immediate swearing in of Oyinlola in accordance with the Appeal Court judgment, said that such development would allow Oyinlola to bring back the aggrieved governors into the mainstream PDP.

"God has used the court to bring peace back into the PDP. The president, the Chairman PDP's Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Tony Anenih and other stakeholders should seize this opportunity to bring about true reconciliation between the warring factions within the party.

"If Oyinlola is sworn-in as the PDP National Secretary today, I'm confident that he will use his position to bring back the G-7 governors into the fold of the PDP.

"PDP should not allow the G-7 governors to go as being canvassed by those who do not wish the party well such as the likes of Hon Bio Ibrahim.

"Indeed, this G-7 governors are the deciding factors on who will rule the country in 2015," he stated.
