Joint Technical Meeting of 3rd NYG adopt more team sports
The adoption was conveyed in a communique issued after the meeting and signed by Dr. Ademola Are and Malam Tunde Kazeem.
According to the communique, some of the team sports adopted include football, Basketball, Handball Volleyball among others.
The meeting also adopted August 28 to September 8 as the date for the competition at the sports complex of the University of Ilorin.
The Technical meeting amended some rules governing the competition, one of the new rules gives an athlete who had represented the nation in an international meet to participate.
The communique enjoined states to ensure that athletes are within the age bracket of 17 years or below for the credibility of the games.
It warned that any state with an ineligible athlete shall pay a fine of N50,000 per athlete in addition to disqualification of the said athlete involved.
The Team Secretary and Coach of the sport involved shall be suspended for further participation in that edition.
The meeting resolved that Rowing and Canoeing sport should be demonstrate at for second time before further consideration.
It adopted that the hosting right for the 4th and 5th editions of the games shall be thrown open for states to bid.
The meeting called on bidding states to write a letter of intent for possible hosting of the games to the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
It expressed appreciation to the Kwara Government and the management of the University of Ilorin.
