Gombe United Too Good For Kwara United

Date: 2016-06-20

Nigeria National League (NNL) Division A2 table-toppers, Kwara United suffered defeat from the hands of Gombe United in a matchday 4 game on Sunday at the Pantani Stadium.

The Savannah Scorpions started the game on a high opening scoring in the second minute through Sani Suleiman. The striker put the ball at the back of the net from close range.

Gombe United were rewarded a penalty in the 10th minute after Bafassou Djoufouna was felled in the Kwara United box and the player converted the spot kick giving goalkeeper Jonah Usman no chance.

Going down by two goals inside the first 14 minutes of the game is not what the Harmony Warriors bargained for and they pushed to come back for the remainder of the first half.

Gombe United keeper Ahmed Yusuf was in-form to stop the Kwara United attack from scoring after numerous shots on attempt.

The second half began the same the first ended with the Harmony Boys pressing hard to get back in the game but chances wasted by forwards.

The Scorpions came close to scoring in the 52nd minute but Haruna Babalo's effort was saved by the Kwara United goalie Usman.

The NPFL side relegated last season threw all they had at Gombe United but could not pull one back.

The match was to end 2-0 in favour of the homers.
