Open letter to President Obama. By Bunmi Olusona
The big question is, is it morally correct to deny dying people access to what can help save their lives because the drugs are still experimental? Why did you approve same for those Americans?
What better way to know the efficacy of the drug? Is it when they all die? Whether ZMAPP will help them or not, the plausible thing to do is to try to save those lives first. Every single life is important before man and God. Given that the Nigerian authorities requested for the drug and the overwhelming acceptance of Nigerians makes it a popular request.
I blame African leaders who prefer corrupt practices than investment in education and research.
Should you refuse to do West Africans this favour, your unpopular decision has the capacity to seriously damage African/US relations, if not now definitely in the future because many of Africans will not forget in a hurry. We also believe firmly that Africans will overcome this epidemic.
Thanks,
Rev. Bunmi Olusona
