25 teachers in Trouble for truancy

Twenty-five primary school teachers in the Kwara State Teaching Service are to be penalized for absenteeism.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board [KWSUBEB], Barr. Lanre Daibu, has directed the affected teachers to report at the Board headquarters for interrogation.

Daibu made the discovery during his unscheduled visit to primary and junior secondary schools in Ifelodun and Ilorin East Local Government areas.

The chairman who was apparently enraged sighting pupils in some schools roaming about during the school hours, expressed disappointment with the non-challant attitude of the teachers to work.

He warned that the state government wound not condone indolence and would deal appropriately with anyone found wanting in his or her duty.

Daibu said that the government is taking significant steps towards improving on teachers’ welfare to boost their morale.

The SUBEB boss also assured the people of Obadara Community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state that the state government would take care of the educational need of the community, even as commended the community leaders for ensuring the proper maintenance of government school in the community.
