15,000 Kwara LG Workers for Promotion

Date: 2013-04-26

No fewer than 15000 local government workers from across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State are currently undergoing screening for promotion.

The exercise is being conducted by the state’s Local Government Service Commission (LGSC).

But the state’s chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) through its secretary, Comrade Abayomi Afolabi, condemned the exercise which it described as undue interference in the affairs of  local government.

The union said, “the flagrant interference in the local government affairs deserves urgent redress by the government.

Reacting to the NULGE’s allegation, chairman of the commission, Alhaji Yusuf Sulyman Kayode, said NULGE has no right to give directives on government’s policy, adding that instruction was given to the commission by the governor.
