The Kwara Government on Wednesday pledged that it would improve the welfare package given to  the persons living with disabilities in the state.

The state's Commissioner for Social Development, Culture and Tourism, Mr Samuel Bamisaiye , made the pledge while receiving officials of the state's Chapter of the Joint Association of Persons Living with Disabilities (JONAPWD) in his office.

Bamisaiye said the the State Government had taken necessary measures to improve the living standard of the disabled, adding that the policy thrust of the government was geared towards supporting members of the association to realise their potential.

The commissioner said the government would set up skill acquisition centres for members of the association to  learn trades.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Suleiman Dagbo, apologised for the behaviour of some of the members who recently invaded government offices in the state.

He called for more understanding between the government and members of the association to enable them contribute their quota in  the development of the state. (NAN)
