The Kwara State Government has announced a restriction on human and vehicular movement across the state on Saturday, October 31, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, disclosed the restriction in a statement issued by the Ministry's Press Secretary, Shakirat Muritala, calling on residents to participate fully by cleaning their immediate environments.
The Commissioner directed environmental health officers across the 16 local government areas to monitor compliance, warning that security personnel and environmental enforcement officers have been instructed to apprehend defaulters for prosecution before mobile courts.
She further cautioned residents against the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on roadsides, pedestrian walkways, and drainage channels, emphasizing that improper waste disposal remains a punishable offence under the State Environmental Law.
