I've Raised the Bar in Kwara, Says AbdulRazaq at APC Congress
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Tuesday said his administration has raised the bar of governance in the state through major investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, revenue reforms and social security.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor made the remarks while addressing party members and supporters at the state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin.
AbdulRazaq said his administration had modernised roads, schools and hospitals across the state, adding that whoever succeeds him would inherit the responsibility of further raising the standards set by his government.
"We are not here to build a dynasty. We are here to build a legacy," the governor said, noting that his focus has been on sustainable development.
He described the past six years as a period of unprecedented investments across critical sectors, while urging party members not to be complacent despite what he called the weakening of opposition forces in the state.
"We need to work harder and build on what we have achieved so far," he said.
The governor acknowledged that party primaries often generate tension but called for healthy competition and unity among aspirants.
"Those that succeed in picking party tickets, we wish them good luck and encourage them to carry along those that do not succeed. It should be one family," he said.
AbdulRazaq also commended President Bola Tinubu, saying the APC-led federal government has demonstrated a clear roadmap for national development.
"Nationally, you can see that inflation has dropped, exchange rate is stabilising, GDP is improving. So the president is doing well," he said.
He maintained that Kwara has taken "a new turn for the better" under his leadership, questioning what issues opposition parties would campaign on.
"Is it about infrastructure, or about healthcare, or education? We've done exceedingly well," he said.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, said the administration had constructed 586 kilometres of roads and recruited 8,912 teachers which he described as the highest by any government in the state since 1999 alongside other milestones.
The congress returned Prince Fagbemi and other members of the state executive committee to their positions, in what party leaders described as a vote of confidence.
The event was attended by top party leaders and government officials, including Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers and other stakeholders.
