Ashifat Suleiman, the interim head coach of Kwara United, has attributed his team's narrow defeat to Kano Pillars to a crucial defensive mistake.

The Ilorin based club, nicknamed the Harmony Boys, suffered a 1 zero defeat against Kano Pillars in a rescheduled matchday six fixture played at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday. Veteran midfielder, Rabiu Ali, scored the solitary goal of the game in the first half.

Suleiman assured the club's supporters that his team will now focus on significantly improving their performance in subsequent matches.

"Our plan here was to get maximum points but things didn't work out in our favour. The league is a marathon, and we'll bounce back stronger," Suleiman told the Kwara United's media.

Following the loss, Kwara United has dropped to 13th position on the NPFL table, having accumulated only eight points from seven matches played.

Their next fixture will see them face Wikki Tourist at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi this weekend.
