Governor AbdulRazaq and Assembly Speaker Praise Workers Amid Economic Growth Pledges
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq delivered a message of commendation for Workers' Day 2025 on Thursday in Ilorin, the state capital, praising workers for their role in driving economic progress and societal development.
The governor, in a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, extended warm greetings to workers in both public and private sectors, stating: "In Kwara State, we deeply value the contributions of our workers-civil servants, farmers, factory workers, teachers, healthcare professionals, engineers, artisans, and sector leaders. Their dedication, resilience, and skills are the pillars of our growth and development."
Meanwhile, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, also acknowledged workers' resilience and pledged continued legislative support for their welfare.
"I reaffirm our administration's commitment to building a Kwara where workers thrive, where decent jobs are created, where careers are continually nurtured, and where every sector is empowered to contribute meaningfully to the state's prosperity. We are determined to implement policies that strengthen our civil service, grow the economy, attract investments, and expand job opportunities.
"Through targeted infrastructural and socioeconomic initiatives, our administration has maintained financial stability, ensured timely salary payments, supported entrepreneurship, and provided social safety nets. These actions reflect our commitment to responsible governance and sustainable development," AbdulRazaq said.
He assured that as the world of work evolves-driven by technology, automation, and artificial intelligence, there is a need to adapt.
"That thinking is at the heart of our numerous initiatives: Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, ICT centres, among others. It is crucial that we embrace change, promote excellence, and prepare ourselves not just for the jobs of today but for the opportunities of tomorrow."
He extended heartfelt appreciation to all workers for the vital role they've played in his administration's shared achievements, commending also the labour leaders for their support and partnership. "I wish everyone a fulfilling and inspiring Workers' Day celebration."
For his part, Danladi-Salihu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Yusuf joined the rest of the world in celebrating Nigeria's workforce especially those driving development and progress in Kwara State.
"We would continue to acknowledge, appreciate, and celebrate your efforts and your immeasurable contributions as our backbone.
"On behalf of the Kwara State House of Assembly, I wish all our hardworking and dedicated workers a happy May Day," the speaker said.
