KWASU Leadership Hails Prof. Ali's Philanthropy Ahead of Historic Turbaning
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali OON, has lauded Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali, SAN, as an extraordinary individual whose philanthropy has profoundly impacted countless lives.
Professor Ambali made the remarks on Wednesday, 9th April 2025, while leading a delegation of Council members and university management staff to Ghalib Chambers in Ilorin. The visit aimed to congratulate Professor Ali ahead of his turbaning as the Kuliyan'geri of Ilorin on Friday, 11th April 2025.
Ambali noted that the conferment of the traditional title by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and its widespread acclaim by the public, underscores the recognition of Professor Ali's contributions to society. “This honour reflects the community's gratitude for his unwavering commitment to justice, education, and humanitarian causes,” he stated.
Professor Ambali praised the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari CFR, for the choice of Professor Ali for the title, noting that it proved that society recognises people who add value to it.
Professor Ambali, a former vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin, acknowledged that KWASU was proud to associate with Professor Ali, given the many laudable contributions he had made to the institution and beyond.
He prayed that Allah would continue to guide the Kuliyan'geri to impact more upon society. In his response, the Kuliyan'geri of Ilorin, Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali SAN expressed his appreciation at the visit of the top echelon of the University, which he described as a motivation for him to do more.
Professor Ali commended the University Management for striving for excellence, adding that the institution was worthy of all support.
It will be recalled that the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari CFR, announced the conferment of the traditional title of Kuliyan'geri of Ilorin on Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali, SAN.
The turbanning will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Emir's Palace.
