Kwara Governor Swears in 2,300 NYSC Members, Urges Discipline and Participation
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has sworn in 2,300 Batch 'C' Stream II members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the orientation camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area. The cohort comprises 1,200 females and 1,100 males.
The governor, represented by the Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Ndanusa Usman, urged the corps members to maintain discipline and actively participate in camp activities to enhance their personal and professional development.
AbdulRazaq welcomed the corps members to the state and encouraged them to engage in physical training, paramilitary drills, and citizenship and leadership training. He assured them that the state government would provide an enabling environment for them to thrive, making their service year both exciting and rewarding.
In a statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Oluwafemi Adeoye, and made available to the press on Friday night, AbdulRazaq advised the corps members to present themselves as worthy ambassadors of their families by exhibiting sterling qualities such as service to humanity and humility as enshrined in the NYSC motto.
“I can assure you that the government will continue to create an environment that promotes the well-being and security of Corps members who are deployed to Kwara State for their National service,” the governor said.
The Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adebara, who was represented by Justice Amina Ishiaq administered the “NYSC Oath of Allegiance” to the corps members.
The Chairman, Kwara State NYSC Governing Board, and the Commissioner for Youths Development, Ndanusa Usman represented by the Director of Personnel Finance and Supply of the Ministry, Mrs Adenike Ajide, expressed gratitude to the governor for his unwavering support to the NYSC scheme in Kwara State and admonished the corps members to offer selfless service all through the year and contribute significantly to the development of their host communities.
Ndanusa hailed the camp officials for their hard work and selfless sacrifice in ensuring the safety of the Corps members.
In his address, the State Coordinator for the NYSC, Mr Onifade Joshua, commended the governor for his support of the NYSC in Kwara and appreciated the corps members for their eagerness to go through the mandatory youth service year, stating that various activities had been lined up for their entertainment and education, while also admonishing them to strictly comply with all the rules required.
Also present at the event were the representative of the Director General of NYSC, Comrade Habeeb Haruna, the representative of the Commissioner of Police, CSP Jimoh Muhammed Tunde, the representative of the Commandant Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps, SC Babalola Sunday Stephen, among others.
