Inaugural Matriculation at Muhammad Kamaludeen University Ilorin: Emir and Chancellor Pledge Support
According to a news report from Voice of Nigeria, Muhammad Kamaludeen University (MKU) in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State in North Central Nigeria, has formally welcomed 146 pioneer students across 13 academic courses and programmes at its matriculation ceremony.
Administered by the university's Registrar, Musa Kamaludeen, the students took the oath of matriculation. At the event, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the Talba of Ilorin, and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Shuaib Abdulraheem, were vested with the symbols of office as the pioneer Chancellor and Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the governing council of the university, respectively.
In his address, the Emir of Ilorin praised the efforts of MKU in fostering moral and educational development within the society.
He said that “the new institution will continue to contribute immensely to the educational development of kwara State and Nigeria at large.”
The Chancellor of the University appealed to philanthropists to support the new institution in achieving its objectives. He also commended the contributions of Sheik Muhammad Kamaludeen Hebeebullahi Al-Adabby to moral and educational development, praying for his eternal rest.
Representing the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at the ceremony, Alhaji Saadu Salahu emphasized the importance of the event, supported by dignitaries including Dr Ghali Alaaya, Alhaji Bashir Adigun, and Alhaji Ibrahim Danmaigoro.
Addressing the students, Vice Chancellor Professor Rasheed Jimoh described the matriculation as a significant milestone towards establishing academic excellence at MKU. He urged the students to strive for excellence in their studies and become ambassadors of the university's vision.
In his speech titled “Establishment of Muhammad Kamaludeen University (MKU): A Struggle of Undeniable Divinity,” he said “MKU is a licensed private University with 15 approved academic Programmes.”
Professor Jimoh said that within seven months' take-off time of the institution, the management of the University had embarked on some Programmes, which included Successful Resource Verification of the 15 academic Programmes with due approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC), standard Admission Processing in line within JAMB's guidelines and Preparations of Rules and Regulation Document for students of the university among others.
He commended the commitment of members of the pioneer management team of the university in creating some unique initiatives for the university, leveraging on its divinity towards attaining and sustaining global competitive advantage.
The Vice Chancellor, who appreciated all stakeholders of the university for their unwavering support and contributions, urged them to continue to collaborate and invest in the University, to create an environment that nurtures innovation, fosters learning and empowers future generations.
He called on them to assist the University in area of Hostel accommodation, scholarships, 2,000 capacity University Auditorium, Transformer, digital infrastructure and ICT equipment, Utility vehicles, Ambulance, and faculty of Law building, furniture and laboratory equipment among others.
