‘Ilorin residents are owing PHCN N928m’ - PHCN Business Manager

Date: 2012-03-02

The Business Manager, Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Challenge Unit, Ilorin, Kwara State, Engineer Abdulfatah Adetunji has said that the company is being owed N928.7 million by its consumers.  He lamented that the consumers' debt profile increased by over N100 million in the past seven months despite efforts to sensitize people in the area on the need to pay their debts.

Speaking at the district consumers' consultative council meeting in Ilorin yesterday,  Adetunji urged consumers to shun anyone who promises to help them write-off their debts, saying, rather, such people should be reported.

The PHCN boss, who enjoined people of the state to be safety conscious, warned them to steer clear of the company's facilities. Engineer Adetunji, who also said that the district has been able to increase customer population by 1,531, added that the company has installed about 2,000 meters.

He said the district has upgraded and effected changes in transformer installation in about 15 distribution substations in the past seven months, adding that the feat was made possible through the collaboration by stakeholders.

He maintained that regular interactions such as the customers' consultative meeting, was needed to sustain the cordial relationship between the company and its customers.
