Animal Husbandry: Group Sensitises Kwara Farmers To Productivity
The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) Coordinating Office, has advised livestock farmers in the Kwara South Senatorial District to leverage the programme to improve livestock businesses in the area. Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye, the State Project Coordinator (SPC), gave the advice during a sensitisation to the project in Omu-Aran, Ijagbo and Oro-Ago, Kwara South Senatorial District of the state.
The sensitisation is part of the move to ensure that livestock farmers and stakeholders in their value chains across the three districts were fully captured in the ongoing beneficiaries' profiling and exercise in the state.
Oyawoye, who stressed the importance of profiling and mapping of potential beneficiaries, said there was the need for proper profiling for efficient plan and implementation of the project in the state.
He explained further that when the project finally kicked-off, it would upgrade the existing facilities in the livestock sector of the state and construct more infrastructure.
He said this would create an enabling environment for effective service delivery, increased performance of value chain operators and forestall any potential conflicts in the sector.
He added that the project's priority was targeted at the low income earners in livestock sector by creating windows of opportunities for access to finance and capacity building.
“It also affords extension services, infrastructure, veterinary services, market linkage and other sundry services to improve performance of the sector,” he said.
The traditional ruler of Ijagbo, Oba Buhari Adeniyi, commended President Bola Tinubu and Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for implementing projects that had direct positive impacts on the lives of the people.
He assured the state government of the cooperation of the people of his community.
Similarly, the ruler of Oro-Ago Kingdom, Oba Johnson Dada, also lauded the government's efforts towards reducing poverty by creating job opportunities for the teeming youth in the country.
The team visited various livestock farmers in Omu-Aran, to sensitise them to the project and seek their support for its implementation.
