Kwara CPC Flays PDP's Reaction to Criticisms
THE Kwara State Chapter of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has urged the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to always use courteous language while reacting to criticisms from opposition parties in the state.
The Chairman of the CPC in the state, Suleiman Buhari said Wednesday in Ilorin that the phrase, "a failed politician" used against the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the last general election in Kwara, Dele Belgore, while reacting to the budget structure of the state, by the spokesman of the PDP Masud Adebimpe was uncalled for.
It will be recalled that Belgore had picked hole in the allocation of an almost 55 per cent of the total budgetary allocations to recurrent expenditure against the more productive capital allocations. The criticism had elicited a prompt reaction from the PDP-led government.
"The response of the PDP not only once again calls into question the intelligence of the marauders that are parading themselves as stakeholders in the state, but also clearly given out the party and its functionaries as a bunch of expensively dressed jesters who in their delusional state would say anything as long as their undiscerning audience is awed of their gratuitous remarks."
Meanwhile, the state government has said that it had no short or long term plan to retrench its workforce, but would continue to improve the conditions of service of the state.
Speaking against the backdrop of alleged perceived calls by the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the last general election in the state, Dele Belgore, Abdulfatah said that it was politically and morally wrong to contemplate retrenchment in a state largely populated by civil servants.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abdulwahab Oba, Ahmed affirmed that his administration remained committed to full implementation of its 'Shared Prosperity Programme' which places emphasis on human capacity development, emphasising government's commitment to youth job and wealth creation in the New Year.
"I want to assure Kwarans that government is determined to creating more youth entrepreneurs, produce high quality middle level manpower through policies such as the International Vocational Centre," he added.
