The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has scheduled a special prayer in honour of late Professor Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye, the first Professor of Geology in Africa to hold on Saturday 10th June 2023.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari who recalled the numerous contributions of the late elderstateman to the propagation of Islam and humanity in general
in Kwara State and Nigeria at large which earned him the prestigious title of Baba Adini of Kwara as commendable.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Emir's spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona on Thursday stressing that, "History will continue to reference late Oyawoye positively for his good deeds on earth.

"Professor was an indigene of Offa but his personality and enviable contributions to scholarship and humanitarian services transcended the shores of Kwara State and Nigeria."

According to the statement, His Royal Highness Alhaji Sulu-Gambari has approved that a special fidau be held in honour of Progessor Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye on Saturday 10th June 2023 at the Madrasatul Sheikh Soliu Alimi inside Ilorin Emir's Palace at 10am.

"The prayer will be led by the Chief Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulhamid to be assisted by other clerics within the Ilorin Emirate and beyond."
