Ile-Arugbo: Kwara suspends work as Saraki sues govt

Date: 2020-01-08

The Kwara State Government said on Tuesday that it had suspended further action on the reclamation of plots 1, 3 and 5 of Civil Service Clinic on Ilofa Street, Ilorin, reclaimed from the late Dr Olusola Saraki family.

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, Salman Jawondo, confirmed that the state government was served on Tuesday with the writ of summons that the case had been filed at the state High Court.

He said the government had not been served with any ex parte injunction restraining the state government from taking action on the reclaimed land.

Jawondo said, "The government was served today (Tuesday) with the court summon which shows that the case has been filed before the court, but we have not been served with the order restraining the government from taking further action on the land on which the structure – Ile-Arugbo – was allegedly constructed.

"It technically means that the state government has not been restrained, but that as a government that believes in the rule of law, it has decided to stop further action on the matter until the final decision of the court."

Jawondo said the case would come up for hearing on January 15, 2020.
