The Kwara Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for rehabilitating and equipping Ilorin Baseball Park with modern facilities.

Olayinka Owolewa, the Secretary of the Association in the State, gave the commendation in a statement on Tuesday in Ilorin.

He said the present administration in the state had demonstrated great passion toward the survival of grassroots sports with the recent renovation of the edifice.

Owolewa also expressed confidence in the willingness of Abdulrazaq to revive all the moribund sports infrastructure across the state and urged him to sustain the tempo

He, however, implored the contractor handling the project to work according to the specifications to enhance its longevity.

Owolewa said the project when completed would serve the purpose of sports and also boost the socio-economic development of the host community.

While thanking the governor for providing a platform for young sportsmen and women to achieve their dreams, he urged the governor to also focus on the Indoor Sports Hall of the stadium complex that was also in a deplorable condition.

He further commended the governor for approving and releasing money for the Kwara Sports Festival which the association viewed as a great platform to discover talents that would do the state and country proud.
