The Kwara State Government on Tuesday, commenced the use of automated staff attendance modules for the workers of local governments across the state.

The project which was flagged off at Ilorin West Local Government Area secretariat, along LUBCON/Wara road, Ilorin was designed to add value to local government administration in the state.

The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bawa Issa, who performed the official flag off ceremony on behalf of the state governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, said the project will also checkmate lateness, absenteeism and indolence among the workers of local governments in the state.

Issa stated that the state government introduced the staff attendance modules not to witch-hunt any staff but to effect effectiveness in the local government administration.

Also speaking, Mr. Biodun Yusuf, who was a resource person at the occasion, explained that the automated staff attendance modules were aimed at ensuring that the local government staff are more committed to duties.

Earlier in her address, the Ilorin West Local Government Area chairman, Hajia Tawakalitu Alake Abdulkadir, said her council had already introduced staff time and movement books before the introduction of automated staff attendance.

Abdulkadir stated further that her staff had been very cooperative, diligent and committed to their duties, adding that the introduction of automated staff attendance modules would further spur them to be more committed.

"I am using this opportunity to remind them of the need to show more commitment and dogged determination in the implementation of government policies and programmes," adding that the council would not relent in its effort at improving upon the welfare of staff.
