Kwara Governor’s Wife Inaugurates Hospital For Women, Children

The wife of Kwara governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, on Friday inaugurated a hospital and medical Centre dedicated to meet the needs of women and children in the state.

Mrs Ahmed, a founding trustee of Life Empowers Anchors Hope (LEAH) Foundation, while inaugurating the ultramodern hospital, said it was part of her vision and passion to help women resolve health challenges.

According to her, there is already a cancer centre within the vicinity of the hospital, which will cater for women screening and checkup for cancer related diseases.

"My passion for this centre stems from my personal experience where l lost loved ones to cancer.

"I wish to reduce the number of cancer related deaths among women and children, if not eradicate it," she said.

Speaking at the occasion, Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara represented by Alhaji Isiaka Gold, Secretary to the State Government said the development of any nation depends on the health of its citizenry.

He urged people of the state to make judicious use of the medical facility.

In his goodwill message, Dr Mohammed Solagberu of the Nigeria Medical Associations (NMA), commended Ahmed for the inauguration of the medical centre.

He urged people to go for cancer screening, adding that it can be cured when diagnosed early. (NAN)
