Issa Aremu lauds conduct of Kwara by-election

KWARA State Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate for the 2019 general election, Comrade Issa Aremu, has commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of weekend's by-election for Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero federal constituency seat of the state.

The seat was declared vacant following the death of Funke Adedoyin, who had represented the constituency in the National Assembly.

Aremu, in a statement after the release of the election result by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, congratulated the winner of the by-election, Raheem Olawuyi of All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ahead of the by-election, the LP governorship candidate had called for a bipartisan approach for the democratic liberation of Kwara State.

Aremu commended "contestants, political parties, including LP, security agents and the people of the constituency. I particularly express appreciation to INEC and the security agents for the credible and peaceful by-election.

"The outcome of the by-election shows that Kwarans are now determined to liberate themselves from the age-long status quo that has sadly promoted poverty instead of prosperity for the good people of Kwara State."
