NOA mobilises Omupo community for PVC

Date: 2018-08-24

As 2019 general elections draw nearer, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged residents of Kwara State to troop out en masse and partake in the ongoing continuous voter registration.

The state Director of NOA, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi made the call while speaking at the special prayer organized by the inter-religious committee of Omupo community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

Adeyemi specifically urged residents of Omupo to participate in the ongoing voter registration and collect their PVC, describing it as most important step to take at the moment.

He noted that no one would be allowed to vote without PVC, hence such a person has forfeited his or her right of electing the right leaders.

The NOA Director disclosed that INEC has concluded plans to bring the PVC that belongs to Omupo community to their wards to ensure a robust participation of Omupo residents in the electoral process and reduce the stress of travelling to the local government head offices.

Adeyemi, who thanked the Olomu of Omupo, Oba Yakubu Adebayo Buari, for the opportunity given him to address the entire community, urged the people and residents to maximize the opportunities offered by INEC who extended the time to register for PVC. In his remark, the Deputy Director, Planning Research Strategy (PRS), NOA, Kwara State, Mr Adeolu Otepola, enlightened the people on the importance of National Identity Number and Card for personal and official purposes and admonished residents to register in earnest.

He also noted that NOA would fast track discussions with the National Identity Management Commission to ease the process of registration and collection of the identity card.

Responding to questions, the NOA Deputy Director assured of the agency's support for members of the community to be well positioned to enjoy the dividends of democracy and contribute to governance. There were sermons and prayer sessions by the Chief Imam of Omupo and Venerable S. A. Adeyemo at the event.
