You have neglected change agenda, CNPP tells Buhari

Date: 2018-01-16

The Congress of Nigeria's Political Parties, Kwara State chapter, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari's administration of neglecting the main issues that could bring the needed change.

This has been to the detriment of the entire populace, the CNPP says.

It stated that though Buhari's government was portrayed as a corrective administration, it has so far spent time on trivial issues.

This was contained in an open letter CNPP, Kwara State chapter, wrote to Buhari, which was made available to our correspondent in Ilorin, on Monday.

The letter with reference number: CNPP/V.17/0082, was addressed to Buhari and was dated January 10.

It was jointly signed by Chairman, CNPP, Kwara State chapter, Mr. Adebayo Lawal; Secretary, Mr. Olufemi Adeleke; Public Relations Officer, Mr. Dave Ifabiyi and Welfare Officer, Mr. Mobolaje Ibrahim.

It said, "The present administration in this country led by President Muhammadu Buhari came into power through a free, fair and credible election in 2015, with serious zeal and proposal to improve the lot of Nigerians.

"Regrettably though, in this third year of Your Excellency's four-year term, Nigerians are still feeling the pinch in all aspects of human endeavour.

"Granted that the immediate regime led by former President Goodluck Jonathan (allegedly) mismanaged all the God-given resources of the nation on the platform of bare-faced incompetence and impunity, however, this corrective administration has been eating up precious time on trivial issues, while the main issues that can bring the needed change have been neglected to the detriment of the entire populace."

It added, "If a cursory look is taken on any aspect of our daily lives, we would see that we have really arrived at a far distant point of no return negatively, unless we mend our ways.

"As at now, we have the monstrous array of challenges staring us all in the face as far as education, health, industrial growth, infrastructural development, security, finance and general development of the country continue to suffer untold decay.

"Should we continue to sweat profusely without getting anything tangible done to ameliorate the suffering of the common masses?

"No, we should not, so that posterity would not misjudge the sincerity of Buhari."
