Date: 2017-08-31

Kwara state police command has deployed 2,000 policemen to strategic areas of the state to ensure peaceful celebration of the Eid el Kabir festivities.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that men of the police command had already showed their presence in some strategic areas of Ilorin, the state capital on Wednesday, as men of the state police command were seen in their patrol vehicles poised to curtail any unforeseen situations during and after the celebration.

It was also gathered that people coming into the state through major towns in the state were checked by the police to ensure that no incriminating materials found their ways were into the state.

Speaking with journalists on the development, the command's Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, said that the deployment of the officers included those in the traffic, special anti- robbery squad, dog surveillance, among others.

While appealing to the people of the state to shun all acts that may hinder hitch free celebration, Okasanmi said that anyone caught fomenting trouble would be dealt with according to law.

He therefore enjoined residents of the state to sustain existing peaceful co-existence in the state to move the state forward.
