Kwara Wants More Hajj Slots
The Kwara Government has called on the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) to increase the Hajj seats given to the state.
The Secretary to Kwara State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, made the appeal in Ilorin while receiving the NAHCON Zonal Coordinator, Alhaji Mousa Ubadawaki, in his office.
According to the SSG, the present Hajj seats given to the state are inadequate compared to the high demand from Muslims interested in performing the Hajj.
He assured the commission of the support of the state government at all times.
Gold urged those performing Umrah (Lesser Hajj) from the state to remember to pray over the security challenges facing the nation.
Earlier, Ubadawaki had said that all necessary arrangements toward successful Umrah and Hajj operations in the state had been concluded.
He said that the first batch of Umrah pilgrims would travel from Aug. 4 to Aug. 5.
