Restructuring begins in Kwara Football Academy

Date: 2017-03-17

The Management of the Kwara Football Academy KFA says it has begun a restructuring exercise aimed at repositioning the Academy and removing encumbrances that could hinder the dreams of the founding fathers of making it a world class academy.

The Academy was set up in 2005 as a centre for youth development, using football as the medium of empowerment.

The KFA is aimed at training footballers between the ages of 13 and 19 years to compete favourably with their counterparts at international levels. It is also focused on developing the skills of the footballers such that after graduation, they can pursue careers as professional footballers with international football clubs.

An executive of the management of KFA, Kayode Aremu told Voice of Nigeria that thirty percent of the entire workforce of the academy have been laid off in the restructuring exercise .

"The exercise is actually right sizing in order to eliminate redundancy" , he added.

Mr Aremu expressed the hope that the on-going restructuring which cuts across all departments will lead to a more vibrant and result oriented KFA.

He added that all outstanding dues to staff are being worked out and all the concerned staff would be paid very soon .

Aremu stated further that activities are going on hitch free at the school and on completion, we expect the Academy to be focused on achieving its mandate.

Meanwhile, Mr Jimoh Olaitan has been appointed Acting Principal while Coach Sam Elijah was appointed Acting Head Coach.
