Kwara : Times are Hard. By Anifowoshe Titilope
They are our fathers
They are our uncles and aunts
They have laboured all through the months
They have done the biometric verification as required by the Kwara State Govt
They are hungry and unhappy
Some months ago,
You wined and dined with them cos you needed their support
Some months ago, you promised them heaven and earth
Even when you knew the consequences of the overdependence of local govt on the state govt revenue..
You refused to execute developmental and economically viable projects at the local level
Your government has refused to invest in long-term profitable projects.
Now, the nation is broke
Today, you have no cow to get milk from
Yet, you still languish millions on your own personal projects
Isn't governance about service to the people?
Why is kwara state different? ***********
These workers are observing Ramadan yet they had to stand/sit under #ilorin's scorching sun to request for their RIGHTS
While You and your affiliates watch them from your fully air-conditioned office ????
I am not the best Muslim, but I know that it's not just legally wrong but morally inappropriate to deprive a worker of his entitlement... May Allah grant affected Kwarans the fortitude to survive this hard times..
***
I hope that our fathers and mothers will learn from this hard times
To vote for capability not mediocrity ...That they are paying for the naira notes and rice they received from "them"
...that governance is far beyond sagacity
****
I hope that our youths can see
...that they sold their family's right with the hundreds of thousands they received from "them"
...that the earlier they brace up for the future by utilizing "their" skills into productivity... the better for kwara as a whole ....that posterity will never forgive them for the hypocritical "continuity" article they wrote for "them"
.....that the future is Now
