Buhari not behind Saraki, Ekweremadu's travails - Presidency tells NASS
The Presidency has reacted to allegations emanating from the National Assembly that it was behind its travails, cautioning the Senate leadership not to rope it in matters that has already been clearly mapped out by the constitution.
According to the Presidency, the executive cannot stoop low to meddle in the activities of the legislature, when the three arms of government ought to be independent of one another.
Recall that the Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu were allegedly fingered to have forged the Senate rules prior to the inauguration of the Senate on June 9, 2015, for which the Upper legislative chamber has been battling to exonerate itself.
The National Assembly had however pointed accusations on the presidency as being behind the forgery allegation, a development that may have also strained relationship between both arms of government.
But Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a chat said the NASS leadership should trace their travails to a different source other than the executive.
"They are independent arms, the judiciary is independent, the legislature is independent of the executive,so if they are independent, how can one be behind the travails of another. "It doesn't add up.
If you know this President you will know that this President plays by the rules strictly,so he will not have anything to do with undermining any other independent arm of government, not this President.
"They can source their troubles to some where else, if they have any troubles but not this President.
