Current economic situation is peculiar to all states - Gov Ahmed ... canvasses for party's candidate
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State yesterday in Iloffa, Headquarters of Oke- Ero Local Government Area of the state called on the people of the area to queue solidly behind the All Progressives Congress(APC) and vote massively for the party's candidate, Mrs Victoria Olubunmi Afolayan in the tomorrow's bye election to the state House of Assembly as a member to represent the local government.
The bye election was as a result of the death of the former member representing Oke- Ero, Hon Moses M Afolayan last year. The governor who was at the grand finale of the party's campaign held in Iloffa, he urged the people not to allow themselves to be deceived by some nocturnal politicians who were head bent in blackmailing the government, saying that the present economic situation was a peculiar to all states of the federation.
Governor Ahmed who assured that government was making efforts and working round the clock to settle all salaries arrears, declared that the present situation in the country was nothing to play politics about. The governor who had earlier had stop over at the Alofa palace where he addressed traditional rulers in the area, appealed to them as the custodians of traditional and culture to prevail on their subjects to cooperate with officers of the state revenue service.
He further explained that the monthly revenue due to the state from the Federal Government had continued to be dwindling all these while, saying that the state government had to deploying means of augmenting the allocation to enable it deliver on its campaign promises.
He appealed to all kwarans to be patient with the government as the present administration was devising means of surviving current situation and making life more meaningful and bearable for them. The council Chairman, Hajia Aminat Yusuf had in his remark paid a glowing tribute to the late House of Assembly, saying that he dedicated his entire life to the service of humanity.
She further stressed that the governor's and other party chieftains' presence at the rally was a pointer to the resounding victory of the party at the poll. Hajia Aminat therefore, appealed to the people to jettison sentiment and hatred and support the party's candidate to emerged victorious at tomorrow's bye election.
In their separate remarks, the Senatorial Chairmen of Kwara South, West and North, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun, Jimoh Adeshina and Isiaka Oniwa canvassed for the party, urging the people to massively for the party's candidate in order to ensure her landslide victory. They added that the party was expecting massive votes from the 69 polling units that made up the local government, expressing confidence that the party remained the party to win.
