NFF Board affirms Giwa FC N5m fine, banishment to Ilorin

Date: 2016-04-26

The Disciplinary Board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday affirmed the N5 million fine imposed on Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Giwa FC, for their role in the abandoned league game against visiting Enugu Rangers in Jos.

The board had invited Giwa FC to appear before it yesterday to answer to the actions of their supporters and some of their officials during a Week 12 game against Rangers at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos. But the club failed to honour the invitation, prompting the board to descend on them.

In a communique made available to The Guardian, the board said "adequate invitation notice was served to Giwa FC requesting that they forward their written submission to the secretariat of the NFF Disciplinary Board and also appear before the Board on 25th April, 2016 by 10:00am. This invitation was not honoured by GIWA FC."

therefore adopted all sanctions earlier pronounced by the LMC, which ""fter careful observation are in in line with the Rules and Regulations Guiding the activities of the LMC," adding that it added additional sanctions to the club for "further violating sections of the FIFA Code of Ethics, FIFA Disciplinary Code and the LMC Rules and Regulations."
