Covenant varsity team understudies Unilorin PG School
A delegation from the Covenant University, Ota was at the University of Ilorin last Wednesday (February 17, 2016) on a study tour of its Postgraduate School.
The team, led by the Dean of the university's School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Chinedu, comprised the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Olawande Daramola, and the Secretary of the Postgraduate School, Mr. Olusegun Johnson. They were received by the Dean of the Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, Prof. Badmas O. Yusuf, and the two Sub-Deans of the Unilorin Postgraduate School, Dr. Bode Kayode and Dr. A. O. Issa, as well as the Secretary of the Postgraduate School, Dr. (Mrs.) F.M. Olowoleni.
In his remarks, Prof. Chinedu told his hosts that it did not take his university much time to zero down on the University of Ilorin as the university to choose while considering the different Nigerian Universities that run postgraduate programmes.
The Dean, Unilorin Postgraduate School, Prof. Yusuf, later led the visiting Covenant University team to the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. N. Y. S. Ijaiya, who welcomed them on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali.
The two teams later had extensive discussion on the working of the University of Ilorin Postgraduate School. Highlights of the visit included the 239th University of Ilorin Postgraduate School Board Meeting, which was witnessed by the visiting Covenant University delegation.
Speaking with Unilorin Bulletin after the event, Prof. Yusuf noted that the visit was an indication that a sister university in Nigeria recognises the excellent output of the University of Ilorin Postgraduate School and its contribution to national development.
The Dean said that the Unilorin Postgraduate School has booked a place of recognition for itself in the Nigerian education community, and added that the door of the University is wide open for those who may wish to tap from its wealth of experience in Postgraduate programmes.
