MM Akanbi sets up NGO

Professor of Business Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin and son of pioneer Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practice and other offence Commission (ICPC,)Justice Mustapha Akanbi, Professor Muhammad Mustapha-Akanbi has set up an NGO in Kwara State to cater for immediate needs of the less privileged.

Akanbi who disclosed this in llorin, the Kwara capital while speaking with the Journalists in llorin on Wednesday said the NGO known as Mohammed Mustapha would give out essential needs to the less privileged at give away prices.

The don said he had launched the NGO where valuable items were distributed to down trodden at give away prices which include; clothing materials, office and household furniture and equipment, electrical and electronic items, toys, watches, jewellery, children’s wears, foot-wears among others.

He said the initiative was an attempt to give back to the society by ensuring the comfort to the less privileged.

The don said the initiative is a non-governmental, non-political, non-faith based and non-tribal inclination.

Akanbi added that the NGO was aimed at redistributing wealth for the uplifting of the less privileged. “Consequently, we set out to collect durable, quality items in good condition that are no longer desirable or relevant to the owners so that they can be redistributed.”

He added that total amount collected from the sales would be used to fund the logistics of the scheme and the balance used to support good causes like off-setting school or medical bills of other less-privileged.

He said free health test was also conducted by professionals on diabetes and blood pressure in view of the importance of health in the life of every human being.

Akanbi advised well meaning Nigerians to complement the effort the NGO by assisting less priviledged in the society.
