Kwara seeks FG’s intervention on Ajase-Ipo/Offa road
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has called on the Federal Government to complement the ongoing efforts of his administration in making life more meaningful to the citizenry through the construction of Ajasse-Ipo/Offa road and other federal roads in the state.
Governor Ahmed, who made this call in Ilorin recently, said the Ajasse-Ipo/Offa road has now constituted a major security challenge to the state government as it has become a haven for men of the underworld.
The governor who commended the Federal Government for the refund of half of the cost the state expended on the construction of the Ilesha-Baruba/Chikanda road project, further appealed to the Federal Government to pay the balance of the project to enable the state embark on construction or repair of other federal roads in the state.
"It is our desire to effect repairs of the federal roads in the State, but for the limited resources which could not accommodate the projects," governor Ahmed said.
The governor said if the money used for the Ilesha-Baruba-Chikanda road project was refunded fully, it would have been used to embark on the construction of other federal roads in the state which are in a state of disrepair.
Governor Ahmed, however, assured the people of the state, especially Ajasse-Ipo and Offa communities that government would do everything humanly possible to find a lasting solution to the state of the road.
