Halima Aliyu from Bauchi State, Adeola Adeyemi Salau from Kwara and Edwin Ununuma Oloya from Rivers State have been announced as the second set of writers for the 2015 Ebedi International Writers Residency, Iseyin, Oyo State.

The trio, all females like the set that preceded them, will resume at the residency inaugurated five years ago on Monday, March 9, 2015.

Aliyu, a lawyer who uses the pseudonym Husnee Hayat lives in Minna, Niger State. She is the current Legal Adviser of the Niger State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) and has participated in several writing workshops including the BBC Radiophonics and Farafina Creative Writing workshops.

She is the author of a children’s novel ‘One Little Trick, One Painful Death’ published in 2005. Aliyu will complete work on her new novel, Icy Waters at the residency.

Salau, a graduate of English Studies is a published writer of poetry, fiction and essay. She is poetry and fiction editor of Sankofa literary magazine and WriteHouse Collective. Her works have been featured in Sankofamag, NigeriansTalk and The Clip among other publications. Salau, who is also a painter, will complete her debut work, a collection of short stories at Ebedi whilst also teaching the students painting.

Oloya, a graduate of English currently studying for her Masters in the same discipline, plans to use her time in Ebedi to complete her collection of short stories, ‘The Ones between the Weave’.

The three writers will be in residence for six weeks and are also expected to mentor some secondary school students in Iseyin in creative arts during their stay.

Since its inception on August 31, 2010, the Ebedi Residency program has hosted over 50 writers from countries including Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
