Kwara courts to open as workers end strike

Date: 2015-02-16

Courts in Kwara State will open for business again from Monday following the suspension of a four-week strike by the state’s branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

Their counterparts in the Federal High Court section had earlier suspended their own strike which was meant to enforce a court judgment on welfare of the union members and the judiciary.

Kwara State Chairman of JUSUN, Mrs. Folake Laaro, who announced the suspension, said it was sequel to the state government’s approval of the payment of peculiarity allowance for all JUSUN members as recommended by the committee set up by the state.

A coomuniqie suspending the strike and directing union members to resume work Monday was signed by Laaro, Chief Registrar of the state High Court,M.O Adegbite,  Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin branch,  Bolaji Ojibara and the state Attorney General and Justice Commissioner, Alhaji Kalmadeen Ajibade.
