The youths at a press conference held on Saturday, 23rd November, 2014, said they passed the vote of confidence on the candidacy of Barrister Razak Atunwa to represent Asa/Ilorin West at the Federal House of Representative because of his countless achievements and support for youth since he took the mantle of leadership as the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
The youth members of the organization consist of Ilorin West indigenes from: Kwara State University, Malete, University of Ilorin, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin; Kwara Polytechnic, Ilorin and Federal Polytechnic Offa respectively.
The president of the organization, Comrade Ibrahim Abdulwahab who addressed newsmen at the press conference maintained the group had not endorsed any other candidate to represent the constituency at the Federal House, saying Atunwa is the choice of the youths who will fulfill the aspirations of young people on developmental ground.
He cited the various achievements of Atunwa in youth development, legislative activities and empowerment, which he said placed him above other contenders eyeing the position in the constituency, thus necessitating the support. Ibrahim said Atunwa scored above every other contestant in the rating of the youths of Ilorin west, saying that the speaker deserves to represent the constituency at the Federal level.
While urging all youths and their parents to support Atunwa and other APC candidates in their desire to occupy various positions in the state and country at large, Ibrahim cautioned the youths against "stomach infrastructure" hinted that the state government under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has committed more resources into youth development and empowerment more than any previous administration in the state.
He also warned politicians across the country against violence during the poll stressing that the 2011 post election crisis in the nation where many youths were killed should not repeat itself in Nigeria.
