A concern group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South has called on the leadership of the party in the state to support Samuel Alabi as the senatorial candidate of the party in the zone for the 2015 poll.

The group, comprising of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) members and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts, who recently defected to the APC, enjoined the party leaders to hearken to the yearnings of the majority of the people in the state.

A statement signed by the leader of the group, Raphael Ajide, reads: "We are members of the APC in Kwara State seeking to boost the electoral fortunes of our great party in Kwara South Senatorial Districts with over 150,000 members duly registered as voters.

"As committed and loyal members of the party comprising youths and elders in our constituencies, we want to implore our party leaders to reward excellence, merit and competence we have found in Chief Samuel Alabi, as such we want him to fly the flag of our party as our senatorial candidate.

"There is no debate over the failure of PDP and other political parties in Kwara State, as we look forward to the 2015 poll. However, we are convinced that the right man for the assignment is Alabi because of his track records.

"We have identified in him the magic wand to dislodge the opposition without stress owing to his grass root appeal and philanthropic gesture."
