Court Arraigns Fake Cleric For Fraud
Jimoh Oniwuridi of Oniwuridi Compound, Pakata Area of Ilorin, Kwara State, a fake cleric, who allegedly defrauded a man under a pretext of solving his childlessness problem has been charged before an Ilorin Magistrate Court.
The 30-year-old accused was brought before the court on a one-count charge of advance fee fraud, contrary to Section 3(1) of Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The victim, Tajudeen Onibon of No. 79, Okelele Area, Ilorin, had on October 28, 2014 reported at 'C' Division Police Station, Ilorin, that on June 14, 2014 the accused came to his residence and deceived him that he could solve his wife problem of barrenness.
According to the victim, the accused fraudulently collected the sum of N200,000 from him and he (accused) trickily collected another sum of N320,000 for sacrifice.
Police First Information Report (FIR) stated that during investigation it was revealed that the accused deceived the victim to dispose his car at the rate of N140,000 and his Jincheng motorcycle at the rate of N30,000, while the accused collected all the money.
The FIR added that investigation later revealed that the charms given to the victim were fake just for the purpose of his illegal activities.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Zaccheus Folorunsho objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand him in prison custody pending the determination of the case.
The defence counsel, Barrister Toyin Onaolapo prayed the court to release the accused on bail since the 1999 Constitution of the Federation of Nigeria still presumed him innocent of the allegation until contrary is proved.
Magistrate Kola Aluko, who presided over the case refused the oral application of the defence, as he ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, until November 20, 2014 for further mention..
