Former military governor of Kwara State, General Ahmed Abdullahi Abokie (rtd), have declared his intension to contest for the Nasarawa West senatorial district's seat in the forthcoming general elections.

General Abokie is contesting for the senatorial seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, which party the former governor of the state, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, is currently representing the district at the Senate chamber of the National Assembly.

Declaring his intention to contest the position at the Youth Centre in Keffi, headquarters of Keffi Local Government Area of the state, the retired army general said his joining the race was to bring zeal and determined representation which will bring development to the zone, and not his pocket.

He said: "Right from the time I joined politics, I have been in the opposition camp. I have never for once cross-carpeted to any other political party. It is a known fact that there is a marked difference between someone who contributed in building a house and one who has come to stay in it after it has been finally built. I leave it to our teeming supporters to judge."

Similarly, a Nasarawa State House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Mr Jonathan Bishara, has vowed to eliminate crime in his constituency by capitalising on his existing philanthropic gesture to his community, if elected.

The aspirant said this when addressing journalists shortly after obtaining his nomination form at the state PDP secretariat in Lafia to contest for the Akwanga North state constituency seat in the state assembly.
