Saraki mourns Enahoro
In a condolence message to the deceased family, the Government and people of Edo State, Dr Saraki said the death of the foremost Nationalist came at a time when the country needed his wealth of experience to further help in strengthening democratic governance in our country.
"The late elder statesman was a hero during his life time and would remain so even in death. No doubt, he has left behind an indelible footprint in the sand of time that would be difficult to surpass", the governor said.
As a great politician of repute and journalist, Dr Saraki said he had served his fatherland diligently during his life time and had also contributed immensely to the socio-political emancipation of Nigeria.
The history of Nigeria could not be successfully written today without a mention of Enahoro as the man who single-handedly spearheaded the move for the country’s independence in 1956 which we now enjoy on a platter of gold and for this, Nigerians would continue to remember him, Saraki noted.
He prayed God to grant the repose of the deceased eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The late Chief Enahoro died this morning (Wednesday) in Benin, capital of Edo State at the age of 87 years.
